MET Office Forecasts Rainfall Across Pakistan From Tonight

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast a new spell of rainfall set to begin across the country from tonight. The weather system is expected to bring rain, thunderstorms, and windstorms to most regions in the coming days.

According to PMD, the system has formed over the Gulf of Kutch, while humid winds from the Bay of Bengal and Arabian Sea are also moving into Pakistan. These conditions are likely to trigger widespread showers across Punjab, Sindh, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Azad Kashmir.

The Met Office has warned that heavy downpours and hailstorms are possible during the first week of October. Flash floods in hilly areas and urban flooding in cities cannot be ruled out.

Authorities have urged residents in flood-prone regions to remain cautious and take preventive measures. Motorists have also been advised to expect traffic congestion and delays due to wet conditions on highways.

For farmers, the spell of rain could bring both benefits and challenges. While it may support some crops, excessive or prolonged rainfall could damage standing crops in certain areas. Local administrations have been directed to stay prepared for any emergencies.

Though the showers are expected to provide relief from the persistent heat at the start of October, officials emphasize that safety precautions are essential to minimize risks and avoid damage.
