Sheikh Saleh Bin Humaid, Imam of the Holy Kaaba, Named New Grand Mufti of Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia has appointed Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid as the new Grand Mufti of the Kingdom.
He will also take on the role of Chairman of the Senior Council of Scholars, one of the nation’s most prominent and respected religious authorities.

The announcement was officially made on September 24, 2025, by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques.

Sheikh Dr. Saleh bin Humaid is a distinguished Islamic scholar with decades of experience in teaching, religious leadership, and Islamic jurisprudence. Renowned for his deep expertise in Shariah law, he is also recognized for his balanced approach in addressing contemporary challenges within the framework of Islamic principles.

His appointment is viewed as a significant step for Saudi Arabia in ensuring strong religious and scholarly leadership for its people.

As Grand Mufti, Sheikh bin Humaid will play a central role in issuing fatwas, guiding public discourse on social and moral matters, and upholding Islamic traditions in modern contexts.

Given Saudi Arabia’s position as the home of Islam’s two holiest cities, Makkah and Madinah, his influence is expected to resonate not only within the Kingdom but across the wider Muslim world.

This decision underscores the Kingdom’s commitment to reinforcing its religious institutions. By entrusting this role to a scholar of Sheikh bin Humaid’s stature, Saudi Arabia aims to maintain Islamic governance rooted in knowledge, responsibility, and respect for tradition.

His leadership is expected to shape the Kingdom’s religious dialogue in the years to come, while fostering unity and stability among its people.
