Festive celebrations swept across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) announced Sohail Afridi as the province’s new Chief Minister.
Fireworks lit up the skies while jubilant crowds gathered in Peshawar, Mardan, Swat, and other major cities to mark the announcement. Supporters chanted party slogans, waved flags, and distributed sweets, filling the air with excitement and celebration.
Afridi’s nomination comes at a pivotal time for the province, following the resignation of former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur. Gandapur stepped down in accordance with the directives of PTI founder Imran Khan, expressing gratitude to his team, cabinet, and the provincial administration for their cooperation during his term. He also acknowledged their efforts in managing the province’s recent economic and security challenges.
According to party insiders, Afridi’s appointment reflects PTI’s resolve to inject new energy and direction into governance in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Known for his loyalty and active role in provincial politics, Afridi is expected to carry forward PTI’s reform agenda, prioritizing key public concerns such as inflation, law and order, and development initiatives.
Supporters have hailed Afridi’s nomination as a positive step toward stability, expressing confidence that his leadership will strengthen the province’s administrative structure and improve coordination among local institutions.
The PTI leadership reiterated its commitment to ensuring transparent governance and public service under the guidance of the new Chief Minister.
