WhatsApp is testing a new feature that allows users to interact with Meta AI through real-time voice chats. The update is designed to help people who are busy, driving, or find typing difficult, giving them a more convenient way to use AI without sending written messages.
Currently, the feature is available to select beta testers on iPhones running version 25.21.10.76 via TestFlight. If the trials prove successful, WhatsApp plans to roll it out to more users in the coming weeks.
To start a voice chat with Meta AI, users can tap the small waveform icon in the Chats section or access it through the Calls tab. Once the session begins, the app will display helpful prompts to guide the conversation, and users will also have the option to send images during the chat.
One of the biggest advantages of this tool is the ability to keep the voice chat running in the background while using other apps. This ensures that users can continue receiving assistance from Meta AI without interrupting their tasks.
According to WhatsApp, the goal of the feature is to make AI more accessible and practical for everyone—whether they are on the go, multitasking, or simply prefer speaking instead of typing.
This new voice chat option is part of WhatsApp’s broader strategy to integrate more AI-powered tools into its platform, ultimately making everyday tasks simpler for millions of users worldwide.
