For the first time in Pakistan, modern thermal technology has been introduced to aid large-scale rescue operations in the flood-affected areas of Punjab.
This advanced system has already proven its effectiveness, enabling rescuers to locate and save more than 490 people across several districts, including Okara, Jhang, Atharah Hazari, Shorkot, and Ahmadpur Sial.
What makes this achievement remarkable is that the technology allows rescue teams to operate at night, when visibility is usually extremely limited. With thermal detection, they were able to identify stranded individuals in places that could not be spotted with the naked eye.
This breakthrough has made it possible to conduct successful missions even in complete darkness, bringing hope to families desperately waiting for help.
Officials described this development as a turning point in Pakistan’s emergency response system. By adopting thermal technology, rescue teams now have a more powerful and efficient way to respond during natural disasters.
The ability to detect heat signatures means that even if people are hidden by debris, water, or poor visibility, they can still be located in time.
Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif praised the rescue teams for their dedication and swift use of this cutting-edge system. She emphasized that their courage, combined with advanced technology, saved lives that might otherwise have been lost.
